Klaus-Dieter Bischoff, Process Engineer of FRIWO Geraetebau GmbH, a 100 % subsidiary of the SDAX listed CEAG AG, was awarded the Nokia "Black Belt" for his outstanding performance in the implementation and realization of the Six Sigma method.
Bischoff achieved his award specifically by optimizing the engineering and production process of an injection moulded housing (enclosure of a mobile phone charger) by using the Six Sigma method.
Six Sigma represents an "almost" zero-defect production process (99.99960%). Starting from statistics, this quality improvement program developed worldwide to a method which allows the measurement and comparison of quality, thus resulting in the improvement of efficiency and effectiveness of work and production processes. The overall target is a
zero-defect rate, a constantly improved product and, consequently, an increase in customer satisfaction.
Basis for Six Sigma is a uniform procedure which includes 5 individual phases, i.e. Definition/Measuring/Analyzing/Improvement/
Controlling, which offer further improvement potential.
Rolf Endress, President of the CEAG AG/FRIWO Group, congratulating his staff member on his award:
"Each quality improvement generates a string of success. It reduces costs and increases productivity. Better quality and low cost increase the supplier's attractivity and demand. It also proffers better personal development opportunities to employees.
